Cable broadband offers the fastest internet connection speeds in Australia, with available speeds up to 100Mbps available in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
Plans are available from Telstra and Optus. Customise your search with the sliders and toggles below.
Cable Broadband is one of the several technologies used to deliver internet to Australian homes and businesses. Though the outcome is the same as with ADSL2+ and the NBN, Cable Broadband is actually an entirely different technology and incompatible with the other broadband services.
Cable is delivered over Hybrid Fibre Coaxial cable and doesn't use the copper telephone lines that we use for ADSL2+. HFC cable is the same cable used by Foxtel to connect home to its subscription TV service, and if you have cable Foxtel you are eligible to get cable broadband.
Telstra and Optus are the only suppliers of cable broadband, too. To find out whether you live in a cable area you need to visit either of these supplier websites and put your address into the search field. This will identify which broadband option is available to you.
